Callie is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who we were told was born on 5/12/22 but our vet thinks she is closer to 6 years old. Before coming into rescue in early August, Callie spent her life as a breeding mama without much human interaction. Because of this, she was terrified of everything when she arrived at her foster home. She has come so far in the past two months. She now lets the adult humans pet her and give her belly rubs. She is still a bit uneasy around kids and definitely does not want to be held or sit on a lap.  She still prefers to spend her entire day safely in her crate but she will come out for pets in the morning. She doesn't like to be held or approached. She likes to be able to approach you when she is ready. She does bark quite a bit when she is frightened or surprised, such as a kid waking up in the middle of the night.  She is not potty-trained and does not walk on a leash. In fact, leashes are very scary to her and if she is on one, she panics. Callie is a darling pup with a sweet soul who deserves to have the best life. She does have a few needs, however, in her forever home: (1) She needs to go to a home that already has a dog. Callie would do best in a home with another well-adjusted dog who can show her the ropes on what “dog life” is all about. She likes other dogs, big or small, but does not play with them yet. (2) She will need a home with a fenced yard since leashes or tie-outs are very triggering for her. (3) She will need a patient family that will let her take her time to warm up to them. Callie makes progress every day so if you are interested in helping her learn how to live “the good life” as a family dog, please submit an application to meet her!  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $475..00
